Today, his marriage proposal turns into reality: it’s the wedding day! It’s a splendid summer outside and in a few hours we are going to be married! I am so happy and yet overwhelmed by emotions. My mother, my younger sister and my best friend are helping me putting on the dress. Waiting for the hair stylist and the make up girl, I had a few moments to sit and remember flashes of memories, from my past.
How did we get here, in the first place? My husband and I spent a few years together before deciding to get married and have children. We have been friends since last year of college and after graduation we thought it was time to take our relationship to the next level. We were in love and everything that we wanted was to be together, no matter what.
My husband, John, is a very handsome man, very kind but strongly willed. He proposed to me almost one year ago, during our summer vacation, in Europe. We had a two weeks tour through Spain, France and Switzerland. After the first 4 days spent in Spain, we arrived in France. First, we visited Paris, the city of love. One day, wandering on the small romantic streets of Paris, John spotted a little chic cafe where he suggested sitting and having a coffee and a croissant. We were both very enthusiastic about the interesting and wonderful places we had visited in the past days and declared anxious to see more and take more pictures as souvenirs. While we were talking and laughing, John suddenly bent on one knee and got out of his back pack a small red velvet box. This took me by surprise and the only reaction that I had was to ask him what he was doing. He simply replied “I’m proposing: would you like to be my wife?” You could imagine my face, the happy smile, the tears of joy, everything. Around, the people were staring and smiling at us. We kissed and I felt him shaking. It took him some time to plan the scene and lots of courage to put it into practice. For that reason, I’ve valued his proposal, even more. Perhaps it was not magic, but it surely was charming and original.
Years went by and here we are, at the age of 30, finally getting married. The hair stylist and the make up girl are here and I have to concentrate on the last details of my bridal image. I’ll come back to you with the story of my wedding day.
